The most common dreams people have are security, vitality and independence. However, if you want to reach higher, aim for security, independence, and freedom.
Write down the five biggest dreams on a piece of paper.
They are financial security (rent, transportation, food, etc.), financial vitality (clothes, entertainment, etc.), financial independence (when you no longer need to work for money because you have enough), financial freedom (you are financially independent and able to afford a few extra luxuries), and absolute financial freedom (you are entirely financially independent and can afford anything you want).
Identify which of these dreams are you committed to.
Pick the three that matter to you most and write them down.
Calculate how much money you spend on each of these dreams.
For example, if financial security is your dream, calculate how much money you spend per year on housing, transportation, food, utilities, etc.
Set aside 10% of your income every month and calculate how much you are saving.
You may notice that you are already saving enough money to fulfill at least one of your dreams without working. If not, now you have a clearer idea of the amount of money you need to be saving to achieve your dreams.
