For Musk, failure is just part of the process. When he decided to create SpaceX, he did not know anything about building rockets. Yet he invested $100M USD of his own money to create the company. This money was enough for three launches. All three failed. The third rocket launch failed because of a small miscalculation; the rocket and electronics were fine. Shortly after this third failed attempt, he launched a fourth rocket that was successful.
“Failure is an option here. If things are not failing, you are not innovating enough.”
