Accept the reality of your situation.

Feeling dejected, frustrated, or sad when you are stuck in a situation you cannot do anything about will not improve the situation—there is no use for these feelings.

Remember, pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. And nothing beautiful can come without some pain and frustration along the journey.

Detailed steps for this principle are only available in the app.

  1. When you’re stuck in a situation, identify what you can do about it.
If you can do something about it, do it! There is no use for dejection, frustration, or sadness.

  2. If you cannot do anything about it, recognize that there is still no use for dejection.
If there is no way to overcome a tragedy, there is no use worrying too much either.

  3. Find the silver lining.
No matter how bad a situation is, there is always a positive way to look at it. For example, even if you are exiled from your home country and have to seek refuge in a foreign country, if you look at the situation from a positive angle, you may realize that you have now been given the opportunity to meet new people and learn about different cultures.
